Units
A unit is the way we measure the amount of alcohol in a drink. The more units the drink has, the more alcohol in it. A unit will take an hour to pass through a healthy body, so calculating the time it will take for alcohol to leave the body is easy. Add up the units and that’s the amount of hours you will need.
Binge
When women drink more than 6 units in one session and men drink more than 8 units in one session. But when you are young, your body is still developing; any alcohol you drink could damage your internal organs. The more you drink in one go, the higher the risk.
Alcohol and relationships
Alcohol affects everyone in a different way and when two people are involved in a relationship the way each reacts can be different, adding strain and changing the behaviour of the people involved.
Alcohol lowers your inhibitions and affects your judgement. This means you are more likely to do things out of character, things you wouldn’t normally do when you have had a drink.
Stay Safe
Make sure you keep safe and keep an eye on your mates. If they have drunk too much and fallen asleep or passed out, then they might have choked on their own vomit. If you are worried, don’t take the risk, call 999. If you are going out watch your drink so it doesn’t get spiked and make sure you walk home with someone or if using a taxi get a licensed cab.
